I’m Valerie Nance—Certified Transformational Life Coach, Etiquette Coach, and Founder of The Eastern School of Etiquette.
My work is rooted in one truth:
When a woman reconnects with her inner poise, everything about her life begins to transform.
My journey began in the corporate world, where I advanced from Help Desk Specialist to IT Director—all while raising three children as a single mother. But when a layoff during the Enron scandal forced an unexpected pivot, I discovered what would become my true calling.
While volunteering at my church’s childcare center, I found myself doing more than serving—I was guiding, uplifting, and helping women see themselves differently.
And that changed everything.
Over the years, I have witnessed transformation that words can hardly capture:
One woman walked away from a toxic relationship and rebuilt her life into one rooted in love, stability, and emotional health. She once shared, “Mrs. Valerie saved my life… encouraging me through small victories until the war was over.”

This work is deeply personal to me.
In my earlier years, I often felt like the underdog—struggling with confidence, self-doubt, and self-esteem. After a car accident, I was diagnosed with a vision condition that affected my ability to read, process, and engage with the world around me, further impacting my confidence.
But through intentional inner work, emotional rebuilding, and resilience, I developed the very tools I now teach.
Today, I help women do the same.
